Autumn Warmth

The Secret Gardeners met on Friday. As the season tapers off, only Rosemary and Anna Ervey came out to garden. Lucy came out to doze in the sun and Stanley enjoyed the sound and cool feel of water in the fountain.

The day was sunny and warm so we decided to deadhead the marigolds and zinnias in the center planter and the marigolds in the window boxes. Anna used scissors to cut off their heads.

The flowers have luxuriantly grown. Straw flower died off in August, as well as a few transplanted vinca vine. Many of the vinca transplants that had spread and rooted themselves next to the building grew well in the window boxes.

In all, everything we planted flourished. The ladies were glad to get outdoors in the sun.
