DIG IT! publisher Mary Jasch and partner, Julian Sparacino, published their 3rd annual wall calendar this year. The 2020 calendar features religious architecture in Lackawanna County, PA, and beyond, with an introduction by architect Richard Leonori, who has designed restorations and modernizations of such.

The independently published calendar, places of worship, features fourteen churches for their beauty, architecture and heritage. From two room country churches that recall their New England roots to the elaborate and sometimes flamboyant city counterparts that speak to European ethnicity and faith.

Not a religious calendar, its topic was chosen for the sheer, astounding numbers of steeples and spires rising above all else in every vista and skyline. They captured the attention of the publishers, especially Mary's, because she had never seen so many in a given area.

The unique design and history of each church is described beneath its full-page color photo. Additionally, a montage of colorful domes and spires displays the abundance and variety of religious buildings in Northeastern PA. Architect Richard Leonori, AIA, hemmler+camayd architectural firm in Scranton, wrote the introduction, marrying the region’s industrial history with churches.

The Calendar is published by FOTO FACTORY, a collaboration between Sparacino, photographer and musician, and Mary Jasch, freelance writer, author, and publisher of DIG IT! Magazine.
